Search engine optimization, or SEO, is a very important component to a successful website, but is far too
often overlooked.
SEO, in a nutshell, is developing a site so that it will be found by search
engines, such as Google or Yahoo. There are many factors that contribute to SEO.
One of the most important factors is the content found on your pages. It is important to use words in your
content that will also be used to search for your site. Other content related issues involve images and
flash pieces. While these are useful for many reasons, having too much can get in the way of the webbots.
Another very important factor is the code behind the scenes. Too much HTML,
nested tables and a prodigious amount of tags will really wear down the webbots. Using
CSS is far superior than using tables, for many reasons, and
is becoming the standard of web designers.
There are many other important factors that contribute to having your site show up in the search engines. META
TAGS, alt tags, links and much more will contribute to your search engine rankings.
